How We Can Help

CONCERNED FOR YOURSELF

How we can help

Before

We can assist you before, during and after a forced marriage takes place. If you have become aware of plans and fear you may be forced to marry either in the UK or abroad, please contact us for any kind of marriage help. We will provide you with information on the choices you have, whether you wish to remain with your family or leave home. We can then assist in finding you a safe place to stay, advise you on how to keep yourself safe, how to apply for a forced marriage protection order, how to change your name by deed poll, and how to change your bank details, so that the chances of you being found are limited.
We can also help with applying for benefits in a safe and secure manner, and if you wish to continue with your education, then we can help with this too.

Should you wish to remain with your family, within the family home, we can work with other agencies to carry out regular welfare checks, and also to obtain a forced marriage protection order which would forbid anyone from forcing you into marriage.

During

If you feel you have no choice but to go along with your family’s’ wishes, and find yourself in a forced marriage situation either in the UK or overseas, we can help.

We can assist in finding you a place of safety should you wish to leave, and also assist with obtaining a forced marriage protection order should this be what you want. We can further assist with all of the things mentioned above.

Should you wish to remain with your family, within the family home, we can work with other agencies to carry out regular welfare checks, and also to obtain a forced marriage protection order which would forbid anyone from forcing you into marriage.

If you have no alternative but to travel overseas, and are worried you may be abandoned in another country, we can assist your return to the UK, with the help of the Forced Marriage Unit, and the relevant Embassy in the country you are in.

After

If you have already been forced into a marriage, and do not wish to remain with your spouse, we can help in accessing legal advice on how to annul your marriage, and how to contact the home office informing them of your situation.

We are able to assist with finding a place of safety should it become necessary, and also work with other agencies to deal with any immigration issues. We can assist with benefits advice, personal safety advice, religious perspective and much more.
